Podcasting

It was my first podcast and it was not very easy. The main problem I had was with the software. Once i got that figured out everything was o.k. I am new to podcasting but I can see how valuable it can be. I think it is a great to communicate to parents and students. I look forward to learning more about podcasting.

Library Thing

The site gives the user a chance put all of their favorite books at one location When selecting the books I was reminded of how much I enjoyed each book. In particular "Good to Great" is a book I highly recommend. Even though it is about business it can be applied to coaching. Great book and a must read for all coaches who strive for success.

You Tube Experience

I have been on you tube many times and really enjoy the site. I really never looked at it in terms of learning tool until this class. I thought the site was only for casual use. But in this class I have seen how you tube can be used in the classroom. It is a great site that is easy to use.

Podcasting

I didn't really like podcasting as much as you tube or other sites like that. I do see the value though in the technology. Kinds seems like tivo for the Internet. I have used podcasting through itunes before. I found that to be useful.

Technorati

When looking at Technorati I can see for someone who follows multiple blogs it could be very useful.Also the ability to search blog topics was very interesting. There is a lot of information at your fingertips. Blogging is all new to me so perhaps in future I will be able to see the true value of the site.

Tagging Websites

As I checked out the website I realized there are many benefits of the site. I have always had the problem when I am at work and I don't have access to my favorite websites. This website always me to store my favorite web sites on the web as oppose to my computer. I also liked the fact that you could look at others tagged websites. This site like many in this class could benefit me as teacher and personally.

Web 2.0

After looking at many of the websites a few stood out. One was called peertrainer.com. It was a sight that had blogs of success stories of people who have lost weight. I think that is a great site for people who are struggling trying to lose weight and feel they are alone. There where many great websites that I found but that one really jumped out to me as something special.

Google Docs

At first I could not see much value in Google docs. But after using g the site more I could see some benefits. It is a great place to store information that can viewed by a large group. It gives people access to information all at one place. I could see this site to be a useful tool in classroom. All of these new websites I have learned have really opened my eyes to what is out there in technology.

RSS Assignment

The RSS assignment was very interesting to me. It makes sense for the web to come to you as oppose to you going out and searching for what you want. The fact is that many of us visit the same websites on a daily basis. It is nice to have them all linked together on one page for your information. I also like the fact that newest information it shown first. The website was fairly simple and the directions where easy to follow. The question I have is how much better is this than having all the links in your favorites? Once again this class is showing me how to make my life easier using the web.

Social Networking

The first article I read was about social networking. It informed me of how widespread social networking is. It was also very interesting to hear that during the Virginia Tech shootings, social networking was a way for people to check on friends. I never thought about how it could be used in a situation like that. The value of social networking was without a doubt seen on that day. The second article was on web 2.0. It was interesting to see where technology is taking a place like the library. No longer is the library the only place students can access information. Also, it creates a more interactive library for teens. The advacnes are far different from my experience going to the library. The last article was on Social software in teacher education. The article looked at the pro's and con's of social networking. The one thing that surprised me was the ability for faculty members to see students facebooks. I think students need to know who is looking at their facebooks before they decide what they want to post on it.
